H+E STUDIO

ARCHITECTURE + STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING

Working with the project Architect, RYE Design, we carried out the renovation and extension of this Victorian townhouse in Camden within the Willes Road Conservation Area, for a private client.

Our brief was to extend the property creating an enlarged kitchen area with a fully glazed rear elevation, in addition to a new glazed side infill extension increasing connectivity to the centre of the house.

As part of our structural design on the project we installed steel frames to allow the demolition of walls to create new connections. Minimal glazed roofs with bonded fin supports and concealed wall supports maximise light into the new rear extensions.

Addition height was gained at first floor level by removing the ceiling joists and reinforcing the roof-structure above creating a double height space across half of the room.
